Winning the Lost at Any Cost
The story of Childress Memorial Church Of God In Christ begins in 1931, when J.H. Galloway held a 90-day city-wide tent revival in San Antonio, Texas. The church was named Galloway Tabernacle COGIC.  In 1936, Rev. E.D. Childress was appointed Pastor and the church was renamed Blue Bonnet COGIC. Under the leadership of Rev. Childress the church flourished. In July 1962, Bishop T.D. Iglehart came to Blue Bonnet as pastor. During this awesome time the church membership increased immensely, enabling the congregration move to the current location on 901 North Pine and was renamed Childress Memorial COGIC. During the 35 years Bishop T.D. pastored Blue Bonnet / Childress Memorial church ministries excelled and the congregation became more active throughout the city, state and county. Bishop T.D. Iglehart went to be with God in 1997 and his legacy was passed on.

It was a great day on September 27, 1997 when Bishop Samuel Edward and Mother Gloria Iglehart came to serve as Pastor and Wife of Childress Memorial. Under the leadership of Bishop S.E. Iglehart, the church is growing in all aspects. Bishop Iglehart's dedication to his calling and his love for people is unmistakable. This is seen in the way he undertakes the daily challenges of his ministry. Whether he is with an officer of the church or a small child, Bishop is never too busy to show how important each member is to the ministry.

The first of seven children, Bishop Iglehart was born to succeed. He is Godly proud to be counted as a third generation of the Church Of God In Christ. Anointed young, he received the call to the gospel at age twenty-four and became ordained shortly thereafter. Currently as the Prelate of the Texas Southwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, Bishop Iglehart successfully leads more than 145 churches. He is  respected as one of the greatest Bishop's within our nation and he demonstrates this daily as he cares for each of his members locally and state-wide.

He presently serves with the Inter-Jurisdictional Council of Bishop and as the Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Bishops. He serves his local community as the Vice Chairman of the Community Churches for Social Action (CCSA), and is the honorable receipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Distinguished Award. Bishop leads by example and is a leader for all generations. Bishop Iglehart was married to the late Glorious Iglehart for over 40 years, and is a loving father to their six children.
